My artwork is representative of restriction, especially in youth culture. As you can see, I have enforced contradicting prainting methods which makes the viewer uncomfortable, directly allowing them to understand the purpose/theme of my work. The expressive vertical marks replicate barriers in ones life, where as the more detailed, yet "unfinished" aesthetic of the figure represents time. This aspect not only suggests that the youth are restricted or contained, but are fading away in the process due to the fact that they can't aspire to be who they want. The painting as a whole can be viewed as a bundle of confusion (i.e. the completion of the figure and expressive marks layered on top) which projects the confusion and distortion in young people's mind.
